About Us

Established in 1987 by Hildegarde Mirenda, the studio is a reflection of our European roots, focusing on the use of flowers as artistic expression. As a collaboration of female artists and designers (yes we’re all related!) Mullica Hill Floral Co. combines over 75 years of experience between the mother/daughter duo of Hildegarde Mirenda, Rosalie Oland, and our cousin Kelli Sandifer.

From a family of eccentric artists came a love of flowers: from our great Oma’s floral studio in Manhattan to our Uncle Joe’s nursery (we consider housing plants in the bathtub and roadside foraging our normal). Together as a team, we execute every wedding, event and daily order, sourcing from our own gardens and local flower farms whenever possible.

Drawing inspiration from nature, art, and our Omas’.

Sustainability

We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment. As frequent collaborators with Mother Nature, we are aware of our everyday effects on the Earth, and consistently work to reduce them. Remaining educated on environmental topics means we are always seeking out new methods to implement in our studio. Obviously there is no flawless way to accomplish this goal, but we know the importance of trying. Are we perfect? Absolutely not. Are we going to continue to make informed decisions and change what we can? You have our word.

Implemented Practices

  • our flower waste is disposed of through composting

  • we do not use any traditional floral foam, and instead use sustainable options like chicken wire, water tubes, and Agra Wool in our designs

  • we do not use chemicals or preservatives on our flowers or plants

  • our packaging materials are reusable/recyclable and single plastic free (our stickers are biodegradable!)

  • our roses are purchased from growers that are Rainforest Alliance Certified

  • flower boxes are repurposed for wedding/event work packaging, or recycled back to our wholesalers

  • our gift items are eco-friendly and handmade (and from women-owned businesses!)
